Application and Admission
Please be aware that there is no open position in learning sciences at this point in time. You have the possibility to apply, in case some position would open in 2026. Application deadline twice per year: April 15th and December 15th.
Admission to the joint doctoral program is on a competitive basis. Candidates will be pre-selected by the Joint Program Committee and have to be accepted by a professor affiliated with the joint doctoral program either at ETH Zurich or at EPFL in order to be admitted. Each new cohort of students begins in September.
Doctoral students have a salary as well as course requirements and TA duties. Upon defending their thesis, a graduate will obtain something unique – a joint degree from two premier universities, EPFL and ETH Zurich, both ranked in the top-15 universities in the world.
