The Behavioral Studies Colloquium is jointly hosted by all professors within the Behavioral Section of D-GESS: Prof. Martina Rau, U. Brandes, E. Cross, D. Helbing, C. Hölscher, M. Kapur, C. Stadtfeld and V. Zimmermann.
The colloquium takes place every semester and is organised by a different professorship each semester. In Autumn Semester 2025 and Spring Semester 2026, the colloquium is organised by Prof. Martina Rau.
The colloquium is held on Tuesdays, from 12:15 to 13:45 in the ETH Main Building, room HG E 33.3. The time from 12:15 to 12:30 is reserved for arrivals and informal exchange; presentations begin at 12:30.
The colloquium provides a forum for discussing recent and ongoing research as well as emerging ideas in the behavioral sciences, at both micro- and macro-levels of cognitive, behavioral, and social inquiry. It covers a broad range of theoretical and empirical research areas, including social psychology, higher education, learning and instruction, cognitive psychology and cognitive science, sociology, modelling and simulation in sociology, decision theory, behavioral game theory, and economics.
The colloquium features invited presentations by internal and external researchers, as well as presentations by doctoral students preparing to submit their research plans. Participants are informed about recent and ongoing research in the different fields. Presenting doctoral students receive feedback on their research plan.
