Dr. Rachel Lam

was a senior scientist at ETH Zurich, working at the Professorship for Learning Sciences and Higher Education from June 2017 to July 2018. Prior to joining ETH, she was a Research Scientist in the Learning Sciences Lab (LSL) at the National Institute of Education of Singapore where she was the Principal Investigator of a project on collaborative learning for environmental education in primary school.

Rachel earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Learning and Cognition at Arizona State University in the U.S. She has conducted research in educational settings in a variety of subject areas that has focused on designing peer collaboration activities to support conceptual understanding and deep learning. She has been developing a learning design around how to cognitively prepare students to collaborate effectively for learning. Rachel has taught courses in educational psychology, learning theories, and child development.
