Pedro Caldeira

was a doctoral student at LSE from February 2020 to January 2021. Not wanting an academic career, he decided to stop his PhD and he continued working part-time in the lab as a software engineer until August 2022.

During his stay, he developed the dermoscopy trainer project, a web app teaching the user how to distinguish melanoma tumours from benign lesions.

Pedro earned a Master's degree in computer science from EPFL. During his thesis, he implemented a new spaced repetition system into a learning mobile app. Before joining the lab, he worked in Tokyo as a freelance R&D engineer with clients such as Waseda University and Australian Aeronautics.

He now works in Zurich for a fintech company as a backend engineer.
